"The Apprenticeship of Lucas Whittaker" by Cynthia DeFelice - Book Report.

After reading the interesting novel The Apprenticeship of Lucas Whittaker by Cynthia DeFelice, I submit discovered three good traits Lucas has that make the story worthwhile to read. Lucas, the main character, is brave, hardworking, and helpful.

First, Lucas is in truth brave. When an epidemic kills his whole family but him, he sees his farm with only a couple belongings and goes to a new town where he finds work as an train to Doc Beeker, the friendly Doctor in the area. This is one mood he shows his bra truly. I would never have the courage to leave my hometown all by myself with almost nothing!

Second, Lucas also is very hardworking. Its not that easy to be an apprentice of a doctor, peculiarly one that does everything from pulling teeth to amputating a leg! He does favors for people in the town and is always busy with chores and errands, which he gets done quickly because he works hard.

Finally, Lucas is helpful. One term he visited herbalist who most people thought was a witch. She told him a special superstitious reanimate on how to cure anyone who was ill because of the epidemic.

So Lucas helped the whole town, giving them all a cure! And some of them got better. The whole journey to and from the herbalists house took him a week, and it was all just to help his town.
