James Weldon Johnson is chiefly remembered for his poetry exploitation Negro dialect. But Johnson also undertook the serious task of paternity poesy sermons. Negro Spirituals
We, as Black American, have come a long way from slavery and oppression. In fact, we have come so faraway until we have forgotten from whence we came. We as Black American need to keep in mind our roots. We need to come back down to our children the elements of our background so that our heritage can be maintained.
