When this assignment was given to us, I automatic on the wholey knew where I wanted to volunteer, and this being Kumon Learning means, As I had a close friend who worked in that respect, and they were always boasting round how much they loved working there. I figured it was a good way to give back to the community, while participating in an enjoyable learning experience.

Kumon was founded in Japan in 1954, Toru Kumon began to teach his eldest son due to his problems in maths at school. Kumon developed the Kumon Method. In 1956, Kumon opened the first Kumon Center in Osaka, Japan with the help of parents that were very interested in the Method. In 1958, he founded the Kumon Institute of Education, after which Kumon Centers began to open or so the world. Since 1956, some 20 million school-age childs have been enrolled in Kumon. Today, there are around 4 million Kumon students worldwide. At bounty there are 1500 Kumon Centers in the USA, and there are a total of 26,000 Kumon Centers in 46 countries.
Kumon believes that every child has the capability to learn. The program finds the needs of the children, and designs a specified way of learning, whether it is mathematics or Reading. It ranges from ages 4-18. The program is constituted by different trains, depending on the child.



The reading program begins with basic phonics and then reaches higher levels of reading, al champion the way till Shakespeare. The math program begins with learning numbers, and takes you all the way to college algebra. Each student is given an assignment, and has about one hour to complete it, when completed he returns it to a jitney and the tutor grades it. Once the student completes all of the assignments in that level, the student then moves on to the next level, each and every level is more challenging than the pervious.
