Zoroastrianism has been described as the oldest faith in the world. It was founded by the seer Zoroaster in the 6th century BC and is the pre-Islamic religion of Persia or modern Iran. The name Zoroaster is Greek. At the age of thirty, Zoroaster had a betoken vision while bathing in a river. He saw a shining being made of light. It was Vohu Manuh and he led Zoroaster to graven image. This was the first time he saw Ahura Mazda. Zoroastrians remember that Zoraster is the prophet of God and that his teachings can lead man to God by following the path of truth and righteousness. He is know as Zarathusti in Persian.
Zoroaster believed there was one god to worship. This was not readily accepted and the local apparitional authorities foreign his ideas. They felt threatened because Zoroaster. Many ordinary people did not like Zoroasters diminishing of evil spirits. Zoroaster rejected the religion of the bronze Age Iranians that included many gods. The Bronze Age Iranians as well as had an oppressive class structure where princes and non-Christian priests controlled ordinary people. Zoroaster was a priest and had a wife and children. He was against animal sacrifices and the use of a specific plant for rituals.



Zoroasters ideas were not readily accepted and religious authorities felt threatened. At first he just had one convert who was his cousin Maidhyoimanha. Eventually, Zoroaster left his home to see to it somewhere more open to new ideas. He then went to the country of King Vishtaspa (in Bactria). They accepted Zoroasters ideas and made them the official religion of their kingdom.
Zoroastrianism has settled other religions such as Judaism and Islam.
