When he finds out that Mei loves Jin and Mei decides to go with Jin, he then kills Mei so that everything could end in front of him. My thought for this is that he is selfish because he quartert accept the truth that Mei is in love with Jin.

* Mei: Mei decision is very wise because she cares about people and doesnt want innocent people to die because of her. She tries to leave Jin behind so that the flying daggers cant find him out. The only unwise thinking that she has made is that she follows Jin to live with him.
She rather dies with her love than staying back and not seeing him again. If it were me, I wouldnt do it because I rather stay vivacious than dies with my lover.
* Liu: Though, Liu is a selfish person, but he has made a wise choice because he kills Mei, the one that he loves. He does that because he doesnt want the relationship between Jin and Mei to hurt him and he wants to end this. There is part that he makes an unwise choice when he helps Jin to flirt Mei. Why would you help someone who tries to flirt the one that you love?
