Cognitive Psychology
accord to Cherry (2012), The term cognitive psychological science was first employ in 1967 by American psychologist Ulric Neisser in his book Cognitive Psychology (Cherry, 2012). However, until the 1950s, behaviorism was the dominant school of thought; even between 1950 and 1970, it began to shift against behavioral psychology onto what is now referred to as cognitive psychology. (Cherry, 2012) Cognitive Psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on the internal mental processes such as perception, learning, memory, thinking, and riddle lick. Cognitive psychology is related to other disciplines; neuroscience being whiz of those disciplines. However, the core focus of cognitive psychology is on how passel acquire, process and store information. There are several applications for cognitive research, such as improving memory, increasing decision-making accuracy and structuring educational curricula to enhance learning (Cherry, 2012).
Behaviorism
Behavioral observations are important in cognitive psychology because it determines more ways in solving certain problems. There are two main branches of behaviorism, Graeco-Roman and Operant teach. Classical and Radical Behavioral psychology, use conditioning to explain the actions of humans and animals without ever having to delve into the mind (Mueller, 2007).
It is believed that holy conditioning holds that one starts with an unconditioned stimulus and an unconditioned solution. An example of this would be a mother counting to threesome to her children before they originate into trouble and the children hollo when they hear her get to three; the counting would be the unconditioned stimulus and the crying would be the unconditioned response.
